Formerly Warden of Iona Abbey in the Western Isles of Scotland, he now divides his time between Edinburgh, where he does most of his writing, and teaching on both sides of the Atlantic as well as leading international pilgrimage weeks on Iona.
He is the co-founder of Heartbeat: A Journey Towards Earth’s Wellbeing, established to expand sacred vision, deepen spiritual practice, nurture reflective community, and enable action for change.
In 2016 John Philip founded the School of Celtic Consciousness (SCC) in the belief that we need to access our Celtic Christian inheritance for this moment in time, urgently.
2011 he received the first-ever Contemplative Voices Award from the Shalem Institute in Washington DC in recognition of his work in spirituality and peacemaking.
About the Day
10:00am - 4:00pm
During the day John Philip will be sharing a vision exploring the vision of Ancient Celtic wisdom as it applies to a universal worldview.
What kind of consciousness did the Celts have a glimpse into, and how might that inform the way consciousness has developed up to the present day.
The day will also include advice on developing practice and will include John Philips famous ‘Body Prayer’.
This is an opportunity to drop into an ancient wisdom that has always been available to us, but much of which has been forgotten in the mists of time.
There will be opportunities for dialogue and meditation
Please bring a ‘sack lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided.
